Heqing County lies between subtropical and cold temperate zones, and has a plateau monsoon climate featured by dry winter and wet summer. Its special geographical location and a big variety of topographical features have resulted in a multi-layer climate which can be described as “coexistence of 4 seasons at different altitudes of the same mountain and different weather conditions in places 5 miles apart”. Climatic subtypes here include south subtropical, mid subtropical, north subtropical, warm tropical, middle temperate, and cold temperate climate, with complex, variable climatic features including rainy, hot seasons, a clear division between dry and wet seasons, rainy summer and autumn and dry winter and spring. In general, its mild temperature and rich precipitation create favorable conditions for the growth of many crops.
Heqing County generally enjoys a warm climate with mild summer and winter, big daily difference and small annual difference in temperature, warm mornings in spring and cool mornings in autumn.
